What is Rock Star Interactive Drumming?
With the usual team building drumming circle experiences, each participant gets a djembe drum to smack and the group has fun creating various rhythms and beats in a group setting.
Rock Star Interactive Drumming is our fresh new take on this popular activity – also known as “drumming circles”, “corporate drumming” or “drumming team building”.
We bring each person a drum to play BUT we also bring a massive sound system for the music. Before each song the group learns an easy beat or technique for that song and then everyone plays it to music.
Step into the shoes of a Rock Star for an hour. We show you how to play drums to songs like Labamba, I Like to Move It Move It, Pirates of the Caribbean, and others – everyone in your group in unison!
No need for any musical skills or talent – the entire experience is super easy and fun and no one is singled out! [more…]
It’s like karaoke for the drums except you don’t walk away from it red-faced with your friends wetting themselves laughing 😉
Don’t just listen to your favourite songs! Become a musician in the band that made them!

Why Invite the Brothers in Beat to Your Event
The Music
Rock Star Interactive Drumming is very different from traditional team building drumming circles. Drumming along to the accompaniment of songs that you love is a thrill only musicians have known up until now – it’s a feeling you’ll never forget!
The Brothers in Beat Guarantee.
We’re the only group that is confident enough to guarantee that we will exceed your expectations, and if we fail you only pay what you think it was worth (knock on wood, it’s never happened before). The only condition is that you please notify us in writing / per email within 48 hours of the drumming time.
Experience
Brothers in Beat has been invited to thousands of events for hundreds of world famous brands like Mercedes Benz, Microsoft, FedEx, Investec, TEDx, etc. In 2015 the UK Dpt of Trade and Industry invited us to perform at an event with Prince Harry. If they trust us with a prince, you can trust us not to drop you either.
You won’t have to put up with ridiculous terms like 100% cancellation fees.
We understand things happen. We ask for a deposit of 50% to be paid any time before the event date. The deposit is only forfeited if the event is cancelled on the day or the day before.
We don’t charge for broken drums
Some team building drumming companies charge for broken drums. The drum skin (the part you hit) sometimes tears from all the beating. You will NOT be held responsible for drums damaged during the event. As long as the drum wasn’t being abused, we take that on us and a new drum will be supplied so the participant whose drum broke can continue.
Our quotations are valid until the end of the year. Why should you have to get a new quotation every week or two while you’re organising your event?
You play on large, colourful, great sounding drums. The small drums that some drumming team building companies use are not as much fun to play. We only use 9 and 10 inch drums which produce a nice deep sound.
You won’t feel like you’ve been wrestling an alligator after squeezing the drum between your legs for an hour – our drums are lightweight.
No trees or goats were killed in the making of our drums.
10% of Brothers in Beat’s income is given to causes we believe in.
Because you’ll be making us happy 😉 And isn’t that reason enough???

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can we come to your venue?
A. We are not a venue. We travel to your home, company, school or conference venue with all the equipment needed. Click here for a list of cool venues.
Q. Is it Loud
A. Yes. Please inform your neighbours or the conference venue of your intention to do drumming. If we’re constantly told to keep it down it doesn’t help the atmosphere.
Q. When is the best time to do Rock Star Interactive Drumming?
A. Any time really, BUT not too late when people will be tired and preferably not after a large meal for obvious reasons. We’d recommend a starting time of 20h00 or earlier.
Q. What do you need?
A. We need you or the venue to provide a chair for each participant and a power plug for the sound system within 20 or so meters of where we’ll be playing.
It would also be great (but not absolutely necessary) if we could have a small table for the laptop.
Also performers get quite thirsty during the shows so a glass/bottle of water would be much appreciated.
Q. Do you cater drinks/food?
A. No. We’re mere humble musicians only capable of making basic sandwiches and ordering pizza. But the venues on our list do cater.
Q. How long is a session?
A. We have found over the years that 50-60 minutes is ideal before people’s hands get too sore.
Q. Do you need any musical skills?
A. Nope.
Q. What kind of music is it?
A. Think along the lines of I Like to Move It Move It, We Will Rock You, etc. It’s not the latest hits because not everyone enjoys that.
We like to keep the full list a secret but suffice it to say everyone will know and love the music. It’s not unusual for people to cheer upon hearing the songs start.
Q. With a name like Rock Star Interactive Drumming, is it all rock music?
A. No. It’s a variety of genres. Pirates of the Caribbean for example. We’ve also changed songs to suit the programme so there are songs that were originally Rock that we’ve blended into something else.
Q. Can we play in the rain?
A. The drums and sound system will not appreciate that.
Q. Are there any other weather concerns?
A. Yes. Playing in direct sunlight is going to ruin the experience. Indoors or shade is recommended.
Q. When do we need to pay?
A. 15 days after event. The invoice is normally generated the day before the event to allow for last minute changes.
Q. Do you require a deposit?
A. Yes, 50% payable any time before the event date. For private social events that want to pay cash on the day no deposit is required, just full payment on the day.
Q. Can I pay for the number of people that actually participate?
A. We invoice for the number of people catered for not the number that pitch up BUT if you have a tough RSVP situation we have been known to make exceptions for smaller events if it’s communicated to us ahead of time.
Q. On the day of the event, when do you arrive to set up?
A. As a rule of thumb, for 50 participants we need at least 20 minutes to set up and for every additional 50 people we need another 20 minutes. So for 150 people we would need at least 1 hour to set up.
If we need to navigate stairs or lifts you can add an hour to the setup time.
Q. How exactly does the process work?
A. First you submit a query. We respond with a quotation. If you’re happy you click on the link provided which takes you to an online booking form. Complete that form and we will respond with a confirmation email. A week before the event you will receive a final event details confirmation email. Look it through carefully and reply with any corrections.
On the day we arrive a bit earlier than the start time to set up. Please make sure the venue is available for us so we don’t disturb what else you might have going on. Then we drum! Then we pack up and go home, UNLESS you’ve booked us to play music after the event (which we recommend as people are in the mood to dance and party afterwards)
Q. Will Everyone Enjoy It?
A. We have played for every type of business, school, gender, race and age (including a 50th wedding anniversary and at Sasol’s school for severely mentally challenged children) and people absolutely love it. We often get excited feedback for event organisers that the people they were expecting not to enjoy it had a blast. IT’S FOR EVERYONE!
Q. Can we split the session into two, taking a break half way and then continue later?
A. We strongly advise against it. This is for a number of reasons and that number is two.
1) We often have events after yours and operate on a schedule so we cannot afford a break in between. But even when that’s not that case…
2) The Rock Star Interactive Drumming experience is not a hit by accident. It has been designed from start to finish based on lots of experience and with specific goals in mind.
In over 15 years of experience, there has never been a case where splitting the show has been a good idea.
